Windows 8

OldNewExplorer: A must have utility for Win8/8.1

snapdpaneI know most of the customizer’s, developers will be aware of this small utility but those how don’t know about this will get to know after reading this post!

So what it is?

OldNewExplorer is the Windows 8.1 and Windows 8shell extension / tweaker which can undo “improvements” to file browsing made in newer Windows version.

This small utility will help you to enable Preview pane, help to disable ribbon,Hide Up arrow and much more..

Simply, this will help you to make your windows 8/8.1 look more like windows 7.

Also unlike other patch’s this will not break the boot, this is a guarantee that this will work flawlessly.

Some more developer’s note:

– Restore devices / drives grouping

Everything is ‘Devices and drives’. That’s stupid! O-N-E can restore grouping which made sense in Win7/8.

– Restore libraries / remove folders

Remove all those folders which were unoptionally added into Windows 8.1 This PC folder and put the libraries back to their place, without registry hacking / breaking oldnewapps.

– Restore command bar / remove Ribbon

Because some people consider it an abomination.

– Restore details pane at bottom

Same reason; reclaim useful horizontal space.

– Improve styling

Get rid of some Win7 stuff here and there; improve styling with some built-in visual styles.

For themers / skinners, O-N-E can help to override a lot of hardcoded styling in Windows 8, maybe even Start screen!

This utility will also help windows theme developers to add themeable control panel images and side panel images, geniune image and shellbrd orb in their .msstyles!

MrBlade I was wondering if you would be able to help me. I want to buy your beautiful theme for my alienware and don’t have any idea of what I would be doing if i was to buy it. I just don’t want to buy something nice and it just sits there because I don’t have the first idea about certain things, settings and such. If you could please help me and explain what to do I would highly appreciate it and will buy, and show all my PC buddies because your work is just fantastic and they would be stunned at the work you do. Im a huge fan of design but when it comes to putting it together i never have success. From your track record you seem to be pretty good to your customers. I look forward to hearing back from you if you could can you e-mail me? its [email protected] Thank you MrBlade.

first of all why are you talking about this here on oldnewexplorer page?
Leave, i”ll let you know that it’s not a big deal to completely install all of my theme stuffs.
All my themes comes with installer.exe files which does most of the work and you almost left with icons. To change icons you just need 7tsp software.
Plus I always include step by step instructions in my theme packages. 😉

MrBlade, I have a thing to say to you, and I hope you try and change it. For your sake, and that of your career/business efforts with your theme building and web site.
You have a tendency to be quite rude to some of your commenters when you have replied to them. Not every commenter, of course, but to quite a lot of them in my estimation, and also not only of this site. Perhaps you do not intend it to come off as mean, but it does, and quite often, too.
I can’t function happily using my computer without Windows 7 Premium Themes made by Designers such as yourself, hence why I know about you, and have read much of your comments throughout some years. About 5 years now. NOFX1994, Harvey, and BigCyco1, Josh are my favorite theme designers, and also my pals but gsw953onDA made my all time favorite theme, Empirical Blue. None of these fine artists speak rudely, or meanly to their supporters and fans, but are always kind and gracious to them when they make comments on their artwork, and when they ask for help.
You have a habit it seems to speak down to some of your commenters, and I am appalled by this behavior. There are two perfect examples of your lack of graciousness right on this page. The Guest above your last comment is the second one you were unfair to in your reply, you using an exclamation mark to answer “no, not on 7!” This made you appear as yelling and angry, not excited or happy, or anything else positive. There is no justification for your anger, or frustration acted out on the Guest who asked if the theme would work on Windows 7. If you get tired of answering a same question boundless times, you are in the wrong business, and should probably stop blogging. For there are boundless people all over the world, and more are being born, having new experiences that they have not yet learned the ins and outs of, so will ask questions that have been asked and answered zillions of times to you, and at you, but for them, it is the first time asking, reading, or seeing one of your themes. You should be celebrating the fact that someone is thoroughly interested in your work, instead of treating them as if they are naive, or dumb.
The first uncalled for comment you made on this page was to Rick Schubert, and made be cringe. And I quote you, “first of all why are you talking about this here on oldnewexplorer page?Leave, …etc”
You dare be unkind to a viewer who honors you and your work who is asking you for help???????? “Leave????” You tell him. Do you wake up in a Pizzed Off mood, or does it just come on to you when you have to type in a blog reply?
This fellow promised to buy your work, he said please, as if he was unsure you would respond. He was gentle, he was informative on his reasons for asking for your help. What did you do and say to him in response to his eagerness over your work? Hmm? You talked down to him, as if he were not very intelligent, treating him as if he were a brainless child, and I find that insulting, and wrong!
I think you owe the gentleman and apology, and so many others I have read you rudely replying to throughout about 5 years time. But that is between you and your victims, not I.
I commented to you directly for the first time today, as this last mentioned reply from you to a fan disgusted me so much, that I could not let it pass by me and your awareness anymore, like I had so many times before.
You owe your fans and supporters your kindness and gratitude, not your meanness, and or Entitled attitude, for it is due to them you have any success, and popularity for you work. No one with a right mind thinks you should grovel, or kiss anyone’s feet, but simply you should treat your fans with kindness, humor if you have any, graciousness, and do it all with a happy bright smile on your face, and most importantly BE GLAD. Not a lot of theme designers and or lovers have it so nice as you do. And what I mean by that, you continue to have great interest from consumers for your computer graphic’s work, from what I survey, even after so long a time that Windows 7 is soon on its way to obsolete. That in itself says something terrific about your hard work. It says you do great works.

Now don’t you think its an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth? Do you not agree its your turn to finally celebrate the people who have given you and your works their popularity, and support, and a few bucks here and there? I DO. Its the way of society in general.

When one is given a gift, it is proper and expected that the receiver say, “THANK YOU, Sir, or Ma’am.”

I hope you improve, MrBlade. I really do, so that within more time, the more successful, and happy you might become. A laugh and a smile ALWAYS feels better than a grimmace, and snapping at a stranger.

        Good Luck, Xeny

Ok, I appreciate your feedback on my attitude, but I may clear out some misunderstandings.I am always happy and appreciate when someone leaves a comment on my artwork.I even provide help through personal email address. If someone come out with an issue then I am always happy to clear out his problems otherwise I cannot sleep!
It’s internet, you cannot tell what the person is by just reading his comment.I have had a real bad experience with the spammers from the very beginning of blogging so when people go off topic then I become a bit irritated but I never let people down.
You cannot tell that I am insulting anyone just because I use “!” , if instead of a ! I used 🙂 then it may appear that I am happy but you cannot say surely that I really am ( just saying…), actually I have a habit of using ! a lot more.
So in short I would just say thank you, I appreciate your feedback and I will try to improve my attitude if I seem rude to someone.
          Thanks, have a good day.
